I’ve found only 1 exact match at 2 internet sites, one stating ca. 1930s, the other 1940s—so probably dating somewhere in between. (One factor for determining possible date of origin is that the aforementioned website states: “The thumbscrew filler knob is stamped Pat Pending.” Mine actually provides the patent #.)
That item is said to have been unused and had sold for $268: “The cream colored enamel is banded in gold with a piano-style hinge along the left side. The flip-up cover is white guilloche enamel decorated with a wreath of pink roses. It opens to reveal a mirror, rectangular powder puff stamped "MARATHON" in gold, and a screened powder cover. The body of the case opens to reveal two spring-hinged holders, the left one for folding money and the other for the unfiltered cigarettes of the day.” Dimensions: 4 ½ x 2 ½ [https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-marathon-slide-lite-guilloche-1855077650]
Mine looks unused but belonged to a family member (a jeweler) who smoked. I see no mirror, but haven’t managed to open the powder compartment. Space for the smokes would accommodate a few cigarillos or self-rolled.
$75 cash. Price is firm. If you see the ad it’s still available for sale, so no need to ask.
I won't ship.
CRAIGSLIST'S CODED EMAIL RELAY SYSTEM IS ERRATIC (especially if you are using a cellphone)--IF YOU DON'T HEAR BACK FROM ME WITHIN A FEW HOURS MY EMAIL MIGHT HAVE GONE TO YOUR JUNK/SPAM FOLDER--but if it's not there I DIDN'T RECEIVE YOUR EMAIL SO PLEASE TRY AGAIN, preferably from the ad rather than the already-established thread
