Beautiful chaise longue / meridienne inherited from an English art professor and shipped from England to the USA. Likely made in the 1860-1890 Victorian Rococo revival period, as evidenced by its deep carved scrollwork typical of mid-to-late Victorian furniture, cabriole legs with scroll feet inspired by 18th-century French Rococo, exposed carved frame, and casters on the feet. Fully refinished original mahogany frame, newly re-upholstered with pure silk and new casters. Includes matching cushion. The colorful striped fabric updates the traditional design to pair well with contemporary decor. A solid piece in excellent condition. Stored in climate controlled environment since restoration.
